For small accounting practices & bookkeepers

Know where your AML/CTF gaps are before someone else finds them.

The tranche 2 AML/CTF reforms have applied since 1 July 2026. If your firm provides services that are now regulated, nexreg.ai gives you a fixed-price readiness check: a short questionnaire, a gap report reviewed by a person, and a clear list of what to do next.

The problem

New obligations, small teams, generic templates

Accountants who provide certain services are now regulated under Australia's AML/CTF regime. Most small firms don't have a compliance team to work out what that means in practice.

The rules are already in force

Tranche 2 obligations have applied to newly regulated accountants, lawyers, conveyancers and real estate businesses since 1 July 2026. Waiting is no longer a strategy.

Starter kits don't fit every firm

AUSTRAC offers free starter kits, and they're a good starting point. The accountant kit is aimed at smaller, lower-risk practices. If your staff numbers, client mix or risk profile differ, you need to tailor it, and it's hard to know where.

Software assumes you know the gaps

Monthly AML tools are useful once you know what's missing. Many firms first need a plain-English view of where they stand and what to fix first.

How it works

Three steps, one fixed price

AI does the first draft so the price stays low. A person reviews every report before it reaches you.

You

Answer the questionnaire

Tell us about your services, clients and current processes. If you already have an AML/CTF program, you can share it instead. We ask only for what the review needs, not your clients' personal details.

AI draft + human review

Get a reviewed gap report

We draft a gap report against AUSTRAC's public guidance and starter kit. Each finding is linked to the evidence you'd need to show. A person reviews and edits the report before it goes out.

You

Work through your action list

You get a prioritised list of practical next steps, so you know what to do first, what can wait, and where you may want a lawyer or specialist to check your approach.

FAQ

Common questions

Does my firm need to comply with the AML/CTF reforms?

It depends on the services you provide, not just your job title. Obligations apply to businesses that provide "designated services". AUSTRAC has a "check if you may be regulated" tool on its website, and that's the best place to start. If you're unsure, get legal advice. Our quiz and check assume you have already confirmed that some of your services are covered.

Is this legal advice?

No. nexreg.ai provides information, templates and tooling. We don't give legal advice, and the Readiness Check is not a legal opinion. For questions about how the law applies to your specific circumstances, speak to a qualified lawyer.

Will the check make my firm compliant?

No one can honestly promise that, and we don't. The check shows where your current setup appears to fall short of AUSTRAC's public guidance and suggests what to work on next. Meeting your obligations remains your firm's responsibility.

Are you connected to AUSTRAC?

No. nexreg.ai is an independent business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for AUSTRAC. We refer to AUSTRAC's publicly available guidance, which is free for everyone.

Why not just use AUSTRAC's free starter kit?

You should look at it. It's free and useful. The accountant kit is aimed at smaller, lower-risk practices. The Readiness Check is for firms that want a second pair of eyes on whether their setup actually covers their own services, clients and risks, and a clear list of what to fix.

How is AI used, and who reviews the report?

AI drafts the first version of the gap report from your answers, which keeps the price down. A person then reviews and edits every report before it's sent to you. Nothing is sent without that review.

What information do you need from me?

Information about your firm, its services and your current AML/CTF processes. We don't need your clients' identity documents or personal details, so please don't send them. See our privacy policy (draft).

Can you also do our independent evaluation?

No. An independent evaluation has to be carried out by someone independent of the people who designed your program. If we've helped you shape it, we wouldn't be the right party to evaluate it.
